Know every box in your store, from the field to the invoice
POP runs a potato store: it counts the boxes in, follows them through the grader and the packing line, records every lorry out and turns the despatch notes into invoices. The shed and the office work from the same figures, on a phone, a tablet or a laptop.
Why it pays
Four things a store gets back
Know what’s in your shed
No boxes forgotten at the back of the shed. When a buyer rings mid-season you know what you have and can sell it, instead of finding it in May.
Less paper, full transparency
The shed records the day on a tablet and the office sees it at once. An order confirmed in the office is a job in the shed the same minute. On export loads, every figure is on the record.
It reads your paperwork
Photograph a customer’s order, a filled grading sheet or a despatch note and POP reads the figures. Keep the paper if you like it, but stop typing it in twice.
Ask it, tell it
Spudsy, the built-in helper, answers a plain question such as “how many boxes of Gemson are in the store?” with links to the POP pages. The Feedback button on every page goes straight to the people who build POP.
How it works
Six steps, the same for every order
Each step is a page in POP. The order page always shows which step you are at and what to do next.
- 1
Boxes in
The shed books each lorry in at the door: grower, crop, variety, box count. Your own crops come straight from your MySPUDS file. A neighbour’s boxes are kept apart under their name.
- 2
Order
The office types in the customer’s order, or photographs the document and lets POP read it. Confirming the order creates the grading and packing jobs for the shed.
- 3
Grade
The grader team records each day on a tablet: boxes in, sizes out, oversize, undersize and brock. Or print the sheet, fill it in, photograph it.
- 4
Pack
Bags weighed in kilograms, labels ticked off, export rejects kept away from the brock. The store always shows what is graded, packed and ready for the lorry.
- 5
Lorry out
The shed loads the lorry and POP prints or emails the despatch note, with the SASA inspection number and the crop numbers on it.
- 6
Invoice
The office makes the invoice from the despatch notes, copies it into your accounts package and records the invoice number. Self-billing, grower pools, brock sold as stock feed and work for neighbours are all handled.
Built for potato stores
It knows the things a general warehouse system does not
POP was built by LinearChat for farmers, with farmers, on a working potato farm in Aberdeenshire. It runs the store there today. Every screen was shaped by a comment from the shed floor or the office desk, not by a software company guessing how a potato store works.
- MySPUDS crop numbers and classes
- Size bands in millimetres
- Quarter boxes
- Oversize sold as ware
- Brock sold as stock feed
- SASA numbers on the despatch note
- Grower pools paid by the hectare
- Neighbours who store with you
Nothing to install
Runs in the web browser on a phone, a tablet or a laptop. Nothing to back up.
A role for each person
The shed sees the shed pages, the office sees the money, nobody deletes anything by accident.
Set up in a morning
